The Dutch charging equipment manufacturer has signed a four-year framework agreement with charging network operator E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI) to supply AC charging stations to several European countries.
The deal makes Alfen one of EDRI’s “preferred suppliers,” according to an accompanying press release. The Dutch manufacturer of AC chargers will begin installing more than 300 Eve Double PG-line units in Germany, 140 of which will be installed in Berlin. EDRI plans to open additional facilities in the cities of Dortmund, Essen and Bochum. There is no minimum or maximum purchase volume specified for the four-year period.
Outside Germany, EDRI will also use the new Alfen Twin 5 charger, which supports Plug&Charge technology and bidirectional charging. Additionally, the Twin 4XL charging station will be available in Italy, a dual-socket speaker that Alfen claims is particularly powerful.
According to the Dutch company, some EDRI chargers will be made to order. For example, charging stations in Berlin were assigned a specific shade of gray to meet the city’s requirement for a uniform appearance for all public charging stations. In other cities, charging stations will be dark gray with more prominent branding, Alfin explained.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure currently operates more than 4,000 public charging stations in ten European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway, UK, Hungary, Romania and the Czech Republic.
