Application Case | Application of Frequency Converter in Air Compressors

A certain air compressor manufacturer produces screw type air compressors, which require the main machine of the air compressor to be controlled by a frequency converter, and the fan to be controlled by a frequency converter. The control system is integrated, and the original peripheral control system (including switch power supply, transformer, contactor, etc.) is eliminated, achieving the requirements of simple system wiring and debugging.

The EACON EC630 series products have the characteristics of convenient installation and wiring, simple debugging, and internal integration of the entire electrical control low-voltage components of the air compressor (220V power supply, 24V power supply); Integrate host frequency conversion and fan frequency conversion into one, and provide multiple analog quantity terminals to support feedback signals of air compressor pressure and temperature; Provide six sets of switch value DI terminals, with customizable detection functions such as emergency stop, PTC, and oil separation filter blockage.

The FB/FC relay can control the 220V loading valve;

 

·RI2/GND is the temperature sensor interface;

 

·DI1/DI4 are switch signals defined as emergency stop and PTC (only DI4);

 

·AI/VDD is the pressure sensor interface, and RI2/GND is the temperature sensor interface;

 

·RS1+/RS1- are touch screen communication ports;

 

·VDD/GND can provide 24V power supply to the touch screen;

 

·The air compressor power supply is connected to R/S/T, the main motor power supply is connected to U/V/W, and the fan power supply is connected to U1/V1/W1;

 

3、 Debugging cases and parameters

 

3.1 Field Equipment Description

 

The motor is a Xianchuan synchronous motor, with a rated power of 37KW, a rated frequency of 200Hz, a rated voltage of 380V, a rated current of 68.5A, a rated torque of 118N. m, a maximum speed of 3000rpm, 8 poles, and a service factor of 1.15. Loading and unloading are controlled by electromagnetic valves, and emergency stop and PTC protection functions are required.

3.3 Steps for on-site debugging

a. Connect correctly according to the system wiring diagram, and pay attention to distinguishing between positive and negative when connecting power and communication lines;

b. After confirming that the wiring is correct, power up the system and the touch screen will enter the standby screen. At this time, the screen will prompt the communication connection status of the frequency converter. Click any part to enter the main interface of the touch screen;

d. According to step 1, input the motor parameters, click [Start Self Learning], and the frequency conversion will enter the self learning of the motor. The interface will prompt that the learning has been successful;

e. Follow step two to adjust the relevant parameters;

f. Confirm whether the direction of the fan is correct (maintenance parameter sub interface);

g. The main interface starts normally;

4、 Case Summary

The EACON EC630 product has implemented the customer’s original ideas, eliminated the power supply equipment of the old system, and achieved simple wiring and debugging, truly meeting the customer’s needs. Afterwards, we provided simple debugging guidelines for customers to facilitate mass production in the later stage.
