SolarEdge launches inverter retrofit program in the US

SolarEdge Technologies today launched the Re-Energize upgrade program in the US, which will allow homeowners to receive new SolarEdge equipment and a new warranty when upgrading their existing systems.
The program offers homeowners special promotional prices on Home Hub inverters, which come with a new 12-year warranty, a new five-year data block card and the ability to add a variety of smart devices. SolarEdge’s DC-coupled architecture simplifies the installation of these upgrades, reducing the need for core panel upgrades and time-consuming panel modifications.
The new five-year Data Battery program provides wireless connectivity between the inverter and the SolarEdge monitoring platform through the user’s cellular data plan when upgrading existing SolarEdge inverters with the program. Re-Energize members also have the opportunity to add more panels to their system, increasing the size by up to 200%, as well as adding home battery backups and a range of smart home energy devices such as electric vehicle chargers, controllers and more.
All non-Home Hub inverters installed before June 30, 2022 are eligible for the Re-Energize upgrade. Read more about the program here.

I have 2 Solark 12 kW inverters. No problem, technical support is available by phone right now. They have set up Wi-Fi so changes can be made remotely.
We make Solar Edge regret becoming a seller. We tried to get someone to answer questions, but no one answered the phone.
I’ve been getting Solaredge clients in the Phoenix area up and running for about a year now. A complete overhaul sounds both good and scary, but let’s do it. No matter if I update or upgrade my system, the latest version is a must! …= production= $$$
Bad experience with SE. Our inverter was discontinued within the first year. If replaced after 3 months, it will only be able to produce up to 50% of its capacity. Currently awaiting a decision on the second ticket and refund of the electric bill during the outage.
I installed Solar Edge in 2016. There are 25 optimizers in my system. Starting in 2019, the optimizer began to fail. It took me until 2023 to finally get Solar Edge, which will replace a total of 15 devices that stopped working by 2022. I have a 15 year warranty. They don’t honor the warranty. Paying for 15 new optimizers cost me $2,100. Now they want me to believe that they will replace these old optimizers with new ones under warranty. Their warranty claims are useless. Trust them at your own risk.
SolarEdge SE4000 and optimizer have been working great for the last 10 years. No call. not just anyone. Delivered year after year. Be healthy.
Interesting article. I installed the solar field 12/2022. How do I know if I have a Home Hub inverter? Our call monitoring software doesn’t provide half the information our sales reps sell us, so it needs to be updated. We also wanted to add battery backup since PG&E buys back excess production almost free every year. It would be better to maintain excess production.
I have two inverters: one from Tesla and one from Solar Edge. Coincidentally, both inverters failed within a month of each other. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice this until my score increased. We contacted both companies and within four days we had another inverter to replace the Solar Edge inverter. Tesla on the other hand still needs to send someone, our meeting is scheduled for next month and they haven’t even looked at the inverter yet.
You must be very lucky. I had a similar situation last summer and it took Solaredge two months to replace the inverter after many phone calls and online inquiries.
My SE device never worked and support was rude when they decided to take over. I would never trust any remodeling program to have cheap new plastic construction in their unsold inventory.
Sandra, it may not be a coincidence that my system has been down for the last three weeks while I waited for the installer to come and check. The industry is ripe for change.
I don’t know if I believe the Solar Edge product will actually last more than 18 months at a time. I’ve had it replaced 3 times since 2019 so I have little trust in this company, communication is poor and I never know if it’s working correctly or if the inverter has broken again. I give SE minus 5 points. Paying large utility bills for an entire month with a working inverter and then hiring a master electrician to install a new inverter requires downtime, making this a terrible toy truck company.
My Solar Edge inverter has been working great for 5 years. One day I needed help reconnecting my inverter to the internet, my installer came and fixed everything for free, including new internet hardware.
It’s not free, remember you have a warranty… most of the time it’s due to improper installation.
