Solarday launches new strategy and launches inverter production line in Italy

Solarday presented its new commercial and industrial strategy at a recent event in Milan. pv Italy magazine spoke with Marco Vergani, Sales and Marketing Director of Solarday, to discuss the module manufacturer’s direct involvement in large-scale installations and its new range of inverters.
Solarday, the Milan-based manufacturer of EU-branded modules, is undergoing a corporate restructuring and reviewing its business plan. Under the new business strategy unveiled this week, the focus will be on customer service and participation in securing direct investment in photovoltaic systems, with Italian and international pipelines currently being identified.
“We will be directly involved in financing large and medium-sized projects,” said Marco Vergani, director of sales and marketing at Solarday.
He told pv magazine that the company wants to work with supply chains and potentially replace investment funds. Solarday will also participate in projects using branded products through capital and equity injections.
The company said it has signed agreements for joint ventures, joint development projects and joint implementation in Italy and abroad.
Christian Ciliberto, Solarday’s chief operating and financial officer, told PV Italia: “Solarday will acquire up to 20% of the shares of the SPV and for the remaining financing needs the company will use different types of financial instruments, which will vary depending on the type. project. There is a difference”.
Although raw material costs have stabilized in China, PV module prices remain at unprecedented levels. Vergani said panel manufacturers must adapt, remain flexible and anticipate unexpected events.
“We’re going through a period of excess inventory right now. We’ve done well because we’ve focused on producing 230- to 290-watt upgrade modules, but almost no one is making them now,” he said. “Unfortunately, this is becoming very useful at this time, especially after the weather events of the last few months.”
Solarday has also launched a line of inverters under its own brand. The new range of inverters will be battery-powered hybrid models manufactured by an unidentified inverter supplier in Asia to specifications set by Italy. Vergani said only that the supplier is one of the world’s nine largest inverter manufacturers.
The new range of inverters targets four main market segments. Eris is a hybrid single- and three-phase residential line with a power range from 3 to 12 kW, and Vega is an Eris-compatible storage solution consisting of low-voltage and high-voltage battery modules with capacities up to 80 kWh.
Jupiter is the company’s classic range of inverters for commercial applications, with a power range from 20 to 36 kW, with a hybrid version due to be released in 2024. Mars is a series for commercial and industrial applications with power ranges of 50 kW, 100 kW and 110 kW.
“The company changed its name from Srl to Spa because it is looking for significant investments to expand the production part,” Vergani said.
Solarday was founded in 2004 and was taken over by new owners in 2014. Since then, the company has experienced “significant growth,” according to current management.
