On July 18, the San Saba Volunteer Fire Department was called to the fire on CR 114. We acted quickly to help save homes and protect everyone. Read this story in next week’s San Saba News & Star.
While fighting a fire, a department-owned 1990 Dodge truck suffered a mechanical failure that cost far more to repair than the vehicle’s actual value. The department said this would result in the loss of key components during a drought.
After further deliberation, SS VFD decided that it did not want to be without a brush truck for the six months it would take to find a “new” truck. So they overhaul old equipment so that it can work next season.
Drought and extreme temperatures are hard on everyone. Please be safe and take extra precautions to prevent fire. These measures will also help to protect the staff of the VFD, as they are always ready to help us, no matter what the temperature is outside.
PLEASE – Do not perform any activity that may cause sparks or flames (such as cutting, grinding, welding, burning, throwing away cigarettes, etc.) in hot, dry and windy weather.
