EAST LIVERPOOL – While the overall winner of the 2023 Battle of the Bells was the Salvation Army, the organization that was able to help local residents with funds raised through the Battle of the Bells, the declared winner was the department that raised the most money. was the Glenmore Volunteer Fire Department.
Glenmoor VFD faced NorthStar Critical Care in Round 2 on Dec. 22 at Walmart. NorthStar destroyed the East Liverpool Fire Department in the first round when its members raised the most money, and then moved on to battle Glenmoor VFD. Glenmoor VFD won the battle with its Red Kettle taking $1,835.13 to NorthStar’s $1,379.80.
Salvation Army Major Stephanie Larrick previously noted that the amount of money raised at each fight is staggering: On Friday, the organization raised about $500.
Battle of the Bell grossed a total of $6,115.09 across two campaigns and three divisions over two Fridays.
Glenmoor VFD, whose team is called Glen Mo’ Money, can now boast of having raised the most money and retained the traveling trophy in their department. The team will face East Liverpool and North Stars in the 2024 Battle of the Bell, and there is also the possibility of new contenders joining the fray.
